Merzouga desert:

Morocco Tour Organizer provides the best destinations in the country; it offers plans, itineraries, and suggestions to different tourist attractions. In order to spend your holiday in Morocco, our travel agency presents you with the various places for which the kingdom is known, including mountains, forests, historical cities, tourist and archaeological villages, deserts, and seas.

Considered to be one of the most visited places in Morocco, the desert of Merzouga is always present in the itineraries. Easily accessible from the Merzouga, the village is the place to see the dunes of the Sahara Desert in Morocco. Merzouga is located far from major Moroccan cities; 560 kilometers from Marrakech and 460 from Fez. The highest dunes of Erg Chebbi reach a height of 150 meters. Rising up to 150m in places and altogether it spans an area of 28 kilometers from north to south and up to 5-7 kilometers from east to west, these giant sand hills, line the Algerian border. Upon examining the history of the town and its inhabitants, it is believed that the region was in the past

uninhabited and constituted a transit point for merchants heading to, or coming from, “Timbuktu” in Mali, as it belongs to a desert bloc, “Erg Chebbi”, which has a unique natural, ethnographic and historical characteristics. It was the arrival point of the Saharan trade convoys (the gold-slave trade) that linked the Mediterranean basin with the countries of sub-Saharan Africa. The local population of the area now is mixed between Arabs and Amazigh (Ait atta), The Ait atta is a large Berber tribal confederation of Southeastern Morocco. More specifically, the majority of Amazigh people who live in the Merzouga area belong to the Ait Khebbash tribe.

Merzouga in summer:

Merzouga in the summer is famous for the huge numbers of local tourists who visit the area to enjoy the amazing views of the sands and mostly for treatment. The sand bath in the Merzouga Desert is an ancient Berber treatment for rheumatic diseases, the quality of the sand and its continental climate and the high temperature helps to benefit from vitamin D, which helps to strengthen the bones, and the presence of the town in an area high from the sea 3000 meters helps visitors to benefit From the scorching rays of the sun that provide them an important cure for rheumatic pain.

Because of the golden sand dunes and beautiful places in the Merzouga desert, it attracts a lot of tourists all throughout the time of the year. Morocco Tour Organizer organizes many and different activities for those who want to explore nature, the culture and enjoy the adventures in the Sahara sand dunes of Merzouga. Here are some of the recommended activities that take place in different places among Merzouga area:

Camel trekking and spending a night in the middle of the desert:

As one of the main reasons for which Merzouga is known, the camel trekking adventure is surely one of the best experiences

you can have in the desert. Riding a camel in the middle of the Sahara Desert allows you to see the amazing views of the desert, attend a magical desert sunset above the dunes and finally spend a night in the camp in a well-organized tent, in which dinner is served and drums music is played around a campfire. That is absolutely a sporting chance to experience the Bedouins lifestyle.

Desert excursion by 4WD vehicle:

In order to deeply explore the desert, a tour of Erg-Chebbi sand dunes is needed. The tour takes place in the morning and visits plenty of interesting places, such as the nomad families who live in the harsh desert in the edges of the dunes, the abandoned French village in M’Fis, and a mountain showing a panoramic view of the region a clear sight of the transition from the sand dunes to the harsh rocky desert. The tour also explores the villages nearby including Hassi Labied and Khamlia, the latter is known for the Gnaoua Music sung by the locals.

Guided by one of our professional and experienced guides, he will provide you with detailed information about the experience to make your adventure unforgettable and more exciting.

Fes:

Fes is a departure city for Morocco Tours Organizer’s trips. It was once a capital for the Idrisid dynasty (807–926), the Marinid dynasty (1248–1465), and last for the alaouite dynasty (1666– 1672) and (1912–1727). Fes city is the second largest city in the country after Casablanca; it is consisted of two old medinas, the old town and the new town, as well as the modern city of Fes which was built recently.

The medina of Fes is registered as a World Heritage Site and is considered to be one of the world’s largest urban car-free areas. The city is a tourist site par excellence; it offers diversified attractions to satisfy its visitor. Alongside the old Medina, Fes is famous for its old Madrasas (Al Qaraouiyyin University), fortifications, city walls and gates (Bab Bou Jeloud gate), forts and kasbahs, tanneries (Chouara tannery), tombs and mausoleums, gardens, Hammams and other historic places and residences.

Marrakech:

At one point in time Marrakech was a capital for the Almoravid dynasty (1072-1174), the Almohad dynasty (1174-1269), and finally the Saadi dynasty (1554-1659). Always referred to as the red city for its buildings’ colour, Marrakech is the third largest city in Morocco. The city is a mixture of cultures, civilizations and heritage that have succeeded this city which made it today serve as a major economic center and tourist destination. It is also one of the busiest cities in Africa; it comprises an old fortified city packed with vendors and their stalls.

The old medina is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beside the popular square of Jemaa el-fnaa, Marrakech is a heaven for tourist attractions; traditional souks, city walls and gates, gardens (Majorelle garden), palaces and Riads (Bahia and El Badi palaces), Mosques (Koutoubia mosque), Tombs (Saadian tombs), Mellah, Museums (Dar Si Said museum).

The old medina was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001 for its beauty that makes it an amazing destination for tourists, which they mean to enjoy its picturesque views and spend the most beautiful times with several activities. The city could even attract some scenes in the third season of Game of Thrones presenting Astapor. Like so many other Moroccan cites, Essaouira is also surrounded by fortified walls with towers and five gates built specifically to defend the city. The main gate and the entrance to the city is what is known as “Sea Gate” which has a triangular shape and is a wonderful masterpiece of art. Also known as the city of wind, Essaouira beaches are featured sites for different watersports such as windsurfing and kiteboarding.

Agadir:

Rebuilt after the 1960 massive earthquake, Agadir is one of the country’s most modern cities. What made this city a touristic destination per excellence is its location on the western coast of the Atlantic, its perfect weather, its beach extending over an area of 30km and the shining sun for almost the whole year. Agadir’s beach offers a variety of activities including; quiet sunbathing, horse riding and the different kinds of watersports. The Kasbah or “Agadir Oufella” is a living historical landmark commemorating the history of the city, why not and it witnessed the earthquake without being affected by it. Today, the Kasbah is on the top of a mountain overlooking the beach with the kingdom slogan written in it. In the city center, there is a fascinating little park named as Birds Valley. It contains a wide range of bird species such as parrots and flamingos, and some other animals like deer and llamas. The city is also the only one in Morocco to have a crocodile park; the park offers great opportunities for visitors to watch and observe these prehistoric creatures from a perfectly safe point.

Meknes:

Founded by the Almoravids as a military settlement in the 11th century, Meknes became the capital of Morocco under the reign of the Alaouite dynasty (1672-1727). The city is the sixth largest city by population in the kingdom. The Medina of Meknes was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996; the city is surrounded by massive walls built by Moulay Ismail for the purpose of protection.

Alike Marrakech, this city is also known for its dynamic square “Lahdim square” just in front of the great Bab Mansour gate. Behind the gate, there lies the Mausoleum of the Sultan Moulay Ismail. Not too far from the mausoleum, there is the prison of Qara which was designed underground and still a mystery. The city is also known for different landmarks and historical monuments such as different mosques, Madrasa Bou Inania”, Heri Es-Souani and Royal Stables. We can organize tours from Meknes! Tangier:

In the far north of the kingdom, there is the city of Tangier which was one day an International area. The city is the meeting point of either the continents of Europe with Africa and the Atlantic Ocean with the Mediterranean Sea. This is clear in a special place in the city known as “Cape Spartel”. Built in 1864, it connects the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Also, in the same place there are the legendary Caves of Hercules. The place as well offers amazing panoramic views of the sea and the lands in the area. Another popular building in the city is Dar Al-makhazen or Sultans Palace; it is used to be the place where Moroccan Sultans stay when they come to Tangier. But now, it is an ethnographic and archeological museum. The city also has the first ever American institution property outside the United States, the Tangier American Legation. The building now is a cultural and researches center, in addition to being a suitable space to host the cultural and musical activities in the city.

Ouarzazate:

Located in the heart of Morocco and in the south of the High Atlas Mountains, Ouarzazate serves as the gateway to Sahara Desert. The city is also known as “Hollywood of Africa” for the wonderful desert views it has; it is an attractive area for filmmakers. In the heart of the city, there is Taourirt Kasbah which is a massive traditional Moroccan building dating back to the 17th century. The Kasbah used mud and stone to strengthen the walls and wood and leaves to reinforce the ceilings, which made it a defensive fortress in which the inhabitants are protected. Opposite the Kasbah, there is the Cinema Museum where a collection of old film sets and cinematic equipment are gathered. Beyond the city, there is the famous Atlas Film Studios in which various films and series took place such as Prison Break, Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven and Game of Thrones.

Chefchaouen:

Chefchaouen or Chaouen is a Northern city known for its ancient history and the amazing architecture. It’s always named “the blue pearl” for its beautiful blue and white buildings. Strolling through the streets of the city, takes to a public square known as Place Outa el Hammam. Given the priority to be accessed through various roads, the square contains many cafes, restaurants and a wonderful water fountain. It also contain the Kasbah, which was one day a military headquarter, but distinguished by its Andalusian construction today it’s surrounded by a wall with towers and it contains a garden and a museum inside.

Rabat:

The city has been the capital of Morocco since 1912, a departutre city for our Morocco trips Located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg, opposite Sale city, it is the seventh largest city in the country. The medina of Rabat is listed as World Heritage Site. The city’s emblem is surely Hassan Tower, an ancient unfinished tower of a mosque. Next to the tower, there is the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a well decorated alaouite-style mausoleum.

Another great site in Rabat is Udaya Kasbah, an old fortress with a museum and gardens in which one can stroll through the streets of the Kasbah and end up with a great view of the Atlantic ocean and Bou Regreg river. The city is also offering many other historical sites and museums such as: Bab Chellah, Almohad walls, Royal Palace, National Zoo, Mohammed V museum of Modern and Contemporary art.

Udaya Kasbah:

Like so many of the great external monuments of Morocco, Udaya Kasbah is of Almohad foundation. Founded in the 11th century, the kasbah is located in the city of Rabat, it can be accessed through the main Udaya Gate itself or by a lower horseshoe arch at the base of the ceremonial stairway. Once you make it into the Kasbah, you can stroll through it and discover streets dating back to the 12th century.

Rightward, you’ll see an old mosque that will lead you to the major platform on which you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Atlantic Ocean and the famous estuary Bou Regreg, father of reflection, which separates the city of Rabat and Salé. Leftward, a tortuous street filled with elegant houses will lead to reach the banks of the river. Enjoy a walk along the Udaya gardens to make it to the museum at the top of the gardens; you will see the Moroccan traditional artworks dating back to the 12th century. Udaya Kasbah is a paradigm example of Morocco because of the combination of modern establishments and historical streets.

Ait Benhaddou Kasbah:

Located in 32km from Ouarzazate, the kasbah of Ait Benhaddou is the cream of the Deep south’s desert architecture.

Also, the first visited destination from Marrakech with Morocco Tours Organizer. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. It’s a fortified village of towering kasbahs and crumbling walls. While in the 1940’s, more than 90 families were living in the kasbah, today only five families are still living in the fortress. The name of this great fortress was derived from the tribal group whose leader is named “Haddou”, ‘ben’ in Arabic refers to son or sons and ‘Ait’ in berber in this context is the inhabitants; therefore, the kasbah was originally built by the sons of the tribe leader “Haddou”. With it souvenir shops and constant stream of tour groups, Ait Benhaddou is one of the most spectacular sights of the Atlas, piled upon a low hillock above a shallow, reed-strewn river.

Popularly known for its special architecture, the kasbah has been the backdrop of several movies and TV series. Lawrence of Arabia was filmed in the fortress, of course; Orson Welles used it as a location for Sodom and Gomorrah, The Mummy, Kingdom of Heaven, Jesus of Nazareth, Babel….In addition to that, Game of Thrones chooses the site of Ait Benhaddou to represent the slavetrading city of Yunkai in the season 4. Once in the kasbah, explore the area on your way; walk through the old buildings and try to find families living there, and also admire the local crafts; the souvenirs here are different from anywhere.

In order to have a completely different view of the surrounding area, you can climb the hill across or above the kasbah. In the evening, the fortress offers one of the best sunsets views in Morocco; find a rooftop café, have a cup of mint tea and get your camera ready and watch the sun slip over the horizon. About eating, local restaurants in the area offer yummy food you should try when visiting this historical site.

Amrhidil Kasbah:

Originally founded in 17 century by Sheikh Mohamed Essakouri Nassiri, the Kasbah is an impressive historical fortified residence. Located in the south oasis of Skoura, it has usually been suitable place for filmmakers and content creators. In 1962, it made an appearance of the film Lawrence of Arabia. Given its importance, it was printed on the Moroccan 50 dirham bill. Today the kasbah is divided into two parts, one part is the living place of the Nassiri family which still own the kabah and the other part is used as a museum.

The museum exhibits the traditional architecture of the building and local traditional man-made objects such as an oil press, a bread bakery, an old well and different tools used for multiple purposes. The kasbah was constructed with simple building materials; Water, mud, straw, and a little wood. Its strong façade resembles a military barracks.

Perhaps this strength is what made it remain resilient to time and the factors of erosion to this day. The architects testify that the builders of the Kasbah had an architectural and spatial experience that made them build it next to the valley in a space in the form of a letter (Z), which kept it from eroding even in times when the area was known of floods and torrential torrents. The kasbah is great stopover for either a quick stop to visit the kasbah or planning a day to find out more about the kasbah and the surrounding area including Skoura oasis

Moroccan Valleys:

Valley of Roses:

Unlike the green north of the High Atlas Mountains, the southern side of the country is commonly dry in most of the regions, with the exception of some green spaces along the valleys. The Valley of Roses is one of them. Situated in the town of Kelaat M’gouna, the valley is not only the emblem of the town, but also the primary source of income for many families. During the harvest season the banks of the valley are decorated by the bloom of thousands of small pink Persian roses.

The crops are used by the cooperatives to produce rose water ant natural cosmetics. Every year in late May, the town celebrates the new year crops; nice opportunity to see the inhabitants offering their different products.

Tinghir and the valley of roses is a must visit destination with Morocco Tours Organizer, Book with us!

Ziz Valley:

Before getting to the high sands of the Sahara Desert, in the heart of the dry flat lands, there is a green paradise of palm trees. Located in the rural center of Aoufous and 45 km away from Errachidia city, the valley is the first producer of dates in the country. The banks of the valley are inhabited by local farmers who gain their livelihood from agriculture in the valley.

Their small buildings on the sides of the valley prink more the place especially when you stand above the mountain watching the whole place in a panoramic view of the long green valley.

Ourika Valley:

In the city of Ifrane the picture is completely different, the tiled houses with red roofs, the flower nurseries that surround the houses and picturesque parks and charming lakes, make this city a true attraction for local and foreign tourists. The most photographed landmark in the city is the sculptured lion which was sculpted by a German soldier during Second World War.
