Located in the southwest of the country, near the Atlas Mountains, which is one of the reasons for its popularity among tourists, Marrakech city was founded back in 1060. Today Marrakech enjoys wide popularity among tourists from all over the world. It is the soul of Moroccan culture and is the fourth
The largest city in the country after Casablanca, Rabat, and Fes. The imperial city of Marrakech is a haven of tourist attractions; our Guided Tours in Marrakech provide detailed information about the city’s landmarks.
El Badi Palace:
Took about 25 years to be built, El Badi Palace is one of the most famous palaces in the city. It was established by the Saadian Sultan Ahmed Al-Mansour in the late 15th and early 16th centuries to commemorate his victory in the Battle of the Three Kings. Once the palace had 360 rooms, but now you can see only the ruins that remained after its destruction in 1696 by the Alawite dynasty. But this does not make the palace less interesting for tourists: on its territory, there is a museum, a terrace with a beautiful view of the city, the old Minbar, mosque pulpit, of the Koutoubia mosque, etc. What also made Marrakech special is its medina which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as it holds interesting sights.
Jemaa el-Fna:
In the heart of it, there is Marrakech’s famous square of Jemaa el-Fna. It is where people come in the evening from every corner of the city to enjoy the shows of street acrobats, dancers, chefs, snake charmers, monkey trainers, and musicians who also gather to create the feeling of a daily celebration. Next to the square, there is the most famous mosque in the city which is The Koutoubia Mosque. It can be safely called the pride of Marrakesh; its minaret reaches 69 m in height and its color is made of red stone, which is typical of the region. An example of the magnificent architecture of the city of Marrakech is the Bahia Palace. It was established by “Ba Hmad” or Ahmed Ben Moussa, the grand vizier of the Alaouite Sultan Abdelaziz.
Marrakech Gardens:
The palace is made in the Arab-Andalusian style and attracts guests of the city with a magnificent garden with banana trees, fountains, oranges, magnificent patios, a huge number of chambers with graceful stucco moldings, and inlaid wooden ceilings. Marrakech is also known for its nice gardens, the major example would be the old Menara Gardens. Located at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, the gardens were founded at the beginning of the 12th century. Now it is the largest park in the city (its area is about 100 hectares). At the entrance to the park, there is a pool with lotuses, and next to it is a lonely building, a 16th-century pavilion with a pyramidal roof, surrounded by olive
trees.
The Menara Gardens offer amazing opportunities for peace, tranquility, and solitude in the cool shade. More modern, Majorelle Gardens attract huge numbers of tourists due to its amazing views. Located away from the Medina, the garden was created by the French artist Jacques Majorelle. Therefore, getting there you feel two elements: the riot of nature and the riot of artistic taste and imagination. Clay vases and pots of various shapes painted in traditional juicy Moroccan colors; blue, yellow, and orange give the garden a special charm and creative atmosphere. The artist was a passionate botanist and keen collector; he collected in his garden a collection of plants representing the flora of all five continents of the planet. The left side is the territory of the deserts and the right side is the territory of the tropics.
