9 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech itinerary:
Arrival to Tangier :
Depending on the time of arrival, our staff will welcome you and drive you to your accommodation.
It is also possible that we will visit this city’s worthy attractions.
The visit will go through the famous Cape Spartel which is located at a summit on the coast, south of the strait Gibraltar.
The lighthouse forms a meeting place for the waves of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, as it is the last point in the north of the African continent overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Admire the views of the sea and the ocean and descend to visit the Caves of Hercules.
This cave is a significant tourist attraction which you can enter and see the shape of the African continent in the opening.
We are also visiting the American Legation in Tangier, the first-ever American building outside American territory which was renamed to be “the American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies in Tangier”, to visit its museum, the research library, and the cultural center which is open to the local population through various programs and activities.
In the evening, you can have a walk in the medina of Tangier and spend the night in your accommodation
Tangier – Tetouan – Rif Mountains – Chefchaouen :
In the morning, we will depart Tangier and make our way to the blue pearl of the Rif Mountains through the city of Tetouan and the majestic Rif Mountains.
In Tetouan, we will stop to see the amazing white buildings of the city and the sculptured white dove statue for which the city is known as the White Dove.
Next, we will continue our way through the Rif Mountains and the green fields beside the road in a picturesque drive to reach Chefchaouen. After a tasty lunch in the city, you can stroll through the blue washed walls of the city and catch some of your best moments.
Our visit to Chefchaouen will take us to the Kasbah or the Ethnographic Museum of the city to see large number of antique pieces and articrafts such as traditional jewelry, musical instruments, household items and much more items that represent the culture of the city.
Also in the area, we surely visit the central square of the city, Place Outa el-Hammam.
The square in its details combines the Moroccan architecture style and Spanish-European style.
There are dozens of shops selling traditional Moroccan goods, as well as many restaurants in which visitors are welcomed to try local dishes while enjoying the picturesque views of the city and its surrounding mountains.
Before the sun sets, we will climb up to the Spanish Mosque to have a panoramic view of the whole city of Chefchaouen and enjoy the sunset.
Later on, we will drive back to your accommodation.
: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes :
In the of the third of the trip, we will leave Chefchaouen and start today’s journey to Fes via the Rif Mountains, the Roman ruins and the imperial city of Meknes.
On our way to Volubilis, we will drive through the amazing views of the Rif Mountains and the various fields the area is known for, and through the town of Ouazzane, we will reach to Volibilis.
Upon arrival, you will have the enough time to explore the place. Volubilis was classified as a World Heritage Site since 1997, and today it is the most important and well-preserved Moroccan archaeological site.
The recent excavations have shown that the ancient city of Volibilis dates back at least to the 3rd century BC, and was the oldest Mauritanian metropolis.
After that, we will continue to Meknes city in which we will visit the Mausoleum of the city founder Sultan Moulay Ismail and a lot of other monuments established by the same Sultan.
The most famous gate in the city and maybe in the country is the impressive Bab Mansour Gate.
In front of the gate, we will take a tour at Lehdim square which is an active square where people gather in the evening to enjoy the different shows the square offers.
Behind the gate, we will visit the mystery of Prison Qara; it is an old prison established by the Sultan Moulay Ismail under the ground to be one of the most obscure prisons in the world.
After that, we will move to Es-Souani granaries to visit the stables and a tour around the lake.
In the evening, we will leave Meknes city and drive towards the city of Fes where we spend this night.
Fes city tour:
In the morning of the fourth day tour, we will have an interesting experience when we visit the touristic destinations of Fes.
Founded by Idriss I in 789, Fes is the oldest imperial city in Morocco as it is the cultural capital of the country. The city is a heaven of historical monuments indicating its civilization through the ages.
The tour through the city will take us along many interesting stops such as, gates, old schools, museums and palaces.
In the educational field, we will visit the world’s oldest universities, Al Qaraouiyyine University which was founded by Fatima Al-Fihri as a mosque to teach students.
Also, Bou Inania Madrasa is an historical Islamic school of Marinid architecture as its surface is almost entirely covered with decoration, in addition to the presence of stucco and woodcarving works throughout it.
Furthermore, as it is belonging to the Marinid era as well, this school resembles the first one.
About gates, we will visit the golden gates of the royal palace to catch amazing photos in front of the gates and move to Bab Bou Jeloud gate in the entrance of the old medina.
The city is famous for the production of leather as well as for its tanning. Among these traditional tanneries, we will visit Chouara Tanneries where they still practice these traditional methods which date back to the Middle Ages.
The best conclusion to this tour is to be heading off to Borj Nord over a hill o visit the museum of traditional arms and enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Fes.
Fes – Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Sahara Desert:
The fifth day of the tour will start from Fes and all the way through the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountains to the Sahara Desert in Merzouga.
In the morning, we will depart Fes and drive through the town of Imouzzar Kandar to reach Ifrane city.
It is a different Moroccan city famous for its architecture style, which is influenced by the Swiss, as it is always called Switzerland of Morocco.
After that, we will continue the way to Azrou where we’ll stop at the Cedar Forest to enjoy its green views and see the Barbary apes playing around.
Still in the Middle Atlas humid atmosphere, we will get little further and stop at Midelt city from which you can start feel the transition to dried desert lands.
After lunch and relax in the city, we will start a picturesue drive over the High Atlas Mountains and stop over the mountain pass of Tizi N’Talghemt to catch an amazing panoramic view of the area.
Next, we will cross the city of Er-rachidia and stop at Ziz Valley.
The valley is a green distinctive oasis of palm trees emerging between the dried desert lands.
Through the valley and the villages nearby, we will continue the way to get to Erfoud, from where we’ll be closer to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.
Upon arrival at Merzouga, we will settle in the hotel situated in the edges of the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes.
Enjoy the calm and the beautiful views of sands while watching your first sunset in the desert.
Merzouga Desert tour:
The sixth day of the trip will be devoted to explore the corners of the desert and experience camel trekking adventure.
In the morning, we will get in to a 4WD vehicle and start bashing the dunes until we get to the harsh rocky desert, Hamada, where we have a break to relax in the traditional tents of nomads living in this area.
After a discussion with nomad families, we will continue to an old French abandoned village in M’Fis to see the remaning buildings as well as the old mines in the area.
After that, we will ascend a mountain between the Hamada and the sand dunes to have a clear panoramic view of the two types of desert, the distant mountains indicating the Algerian Borders, in addition to the desert valley which was in the past a racing way for the famous Rally Dakar.
Through the valley, we will drive to Khamlia village next to the main way to have a break and listen to Gnaoua music which locals sing.
Back to the hotel, you will have the enough time to relax and get ready for the camel trekking experience.
On the appointed time, we’ll move to the edges of the sand dunes where the camels are waiting for you to go on a nomadic trip through the sand dunes and spend a night in the middle of the desert.
The camel man will make sure you attend a charming sunset from a nice place above the dunes. In the camp,
the hosts will welcome you with open arms as it is known for Berber hospitality.
They will serve you dinner followed by a campfire session singing and dancing over the sounds of drums music.
Finally, spend the night in your well organized tent in the middle of the desert under the charming brilliant stars.
Merzouga – Rissani – Todgha Gorges – Dades Valley:
The seventh day of the trip will begin by leaving the desert and make the way to Dades Valley via the Berber villages of Tafilalt and the Todgha Gorges.
Departing Merzouga in the morning, we will drive for only 36km to stop at Rissani town, known as the birthplace for the Alaouite dynasty, which is home for the huge traditional market that takes place on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, where people come from all the region of Tafilalt for shopping.
After that, we will carry on the way via the Berber villages to cross the city of Tinghir and stop at the Todgha Gorges.
The gorge is one of the best tourist attractions in the country, as it is a suitable place for climbers and photographers.
For this reason, we will have the enough time to explore the gorge which offers amazing chances to refresh, taking amazing photography shots and walk through it sharing the roads with locals.
Next, we will continue the way to today’s destination Dades Valley.
On the way, we will stop at a place where Geology plays its magic and forms a rocky formation resembling the Monkey Toes for which the place is called.
After that, we will drive through the snaky road of Tisdrine which offers a magical drive through the valley and perfectly safe.
Eventually, we will be at the valley of Dades and we’ll drive you to your accommodation.
Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Marrakech :
The eighth day of the tour would start by departing Dades Valley and ends in Marrakech via the Kelaat M’Gouna town, Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.
Kelaat M’Gouna is the first town we’ll stop at after leaving Dades Valley.
The town is known as Valley of Roses due to the different products the locals produce using the Damask rose that grows in the valley.
After crossing the palm grove of Skoura town, we will make another stop to visit the fascinating Kasbah of Amridil to see the massive building that is divided into two parts; one is a museum that we are visiting and the other is home for Nasiri family that still lives in the Kasbah to this day.
Afterwards, we will be at Ouarzazate city to visit the Kasbah of Taourirt,
a historical residence also used as a Hollywood backdrop, and the Atlas Film Sudios.
In the studios, we will discover the various movies and films that were filmed in Taourirt and Ait Benhaddou Kasbah such as Game of Thrones, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Prison Break and many others.
Not too far from Ouarzazate, we will continue to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.
Being the most famous Kasbah in Morocco and the filming environment for several worldwide films and series, the Kasbah offers great opportunities to closely discover its buildings and the surrounding environment especially when climb up a hill to have a panoramic view of the whole place.
In the evening, we will leave the Kasbah and make our through the High Atlas Mountains in one of the preferable drives, in which we will stop above the top at 2260m at the mountain pass of Tizi N’Tishka to admire the panoramic scene of the High Atlas Mountains.
Finally, we will reach the red city of Marrakech and drive you to your accommodation.
Marrakech city tour :
The ninth and last day of the 9 days tour from Tangier to Marrakech will be devoted to visit the city of Marrakech and gain more knowledge about the history and culture of this city.
Founded in the 11th century, the city is one of the four Moroccan imperial cities.
Our journey in Marrakech will take us through its history in the historical monuments and landmarks that it holds, and then we will reveal its culture through the alleys and traditional markets of its medina in addition to its active square, Jemaa el-Fnaa.
The tour will cover the famous Bahia Palace that offers chances to understand the life of the richer in the 19th century.
The palace is a well decorated masterpiece with bright colors with natural materials.
Also, El Badi Palace is a nice building established by the Saadians, the general design of the monument is characterized by a symmetrical distribution of the buildings around a rectangular square, which in the middle has a large lake.
