In the morning after breakfast, you will get in to the 4WD car and start driving through the sands of Erg-Chebbi.
On the eastern part of the dunes and not too far the Algerian borders, there live the nomads.
We will visit them and have a seat in their beautiful traditional tents in order to know how they manage to live here seeking for water and pasture for their livestock.
Next, we ascend a mountain and stop at an amazing panoramic view of the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes.
It is from where you can clearly see the transition from black harsh desert to golden sand dunes separated by the valley which flows seasonally.
Beside the mountain, there is an old abandoned French village “M’Fis” which in colonization days was a military area.
The area now is also known for its mines and fossils. Still on the off-road, we back to the main way when we stop at “Khamlia” in order to listen to Gnaoua music.
It is a village inhabited by people originally from other countries of Africa who serve their art legacy.
Back to Merzouga, you will have lunch and relax before heading to the edges of the dunes where camels are waiting to take you on a special ride through the dunes to the camps.
