6 Days tour from Fes to Desert itinerary:
Fes exploration :
Our 6 Days tour from Fes to Merzouga Desert The first day of the trip will be devoted to explore the majestic city of Fes.
In the morning, you will get in a private car and start discovering the secrets of this city.
Fes is the cultural capital of the country; it is home for traditional artists, craftsmen, amazing narrow streets and unique architecture.
The city also has one of the world’s oldest universities, Al-Qaraouiyyine University which was found by Fatima Al-Fihri.
Our visit to the city will cover many other monuments and buildings including: the golden royal palace gates which offer an amazing opportunity for photography in front of its coulourful doors, the impressive gate of Bab Bou Jeloud which serves as the main entrance to the old medina, Chaouara tanneries where you can see the authentic way of leather dyeing by men in front of your eyes.
We will also visit one of the most beautiful Madrasas in Fes, Madrasa Bou Inania, which is distinguished by its unique style of architecture.
Another Madrasa on the list is Al Attarine Madrasa which has its own finesse of using wood, stone and mosaics to decorate walls with geometric patterns.
The city tour continues with a fascinating view in Borj Nord which offers a panoramic view of the whole medina of Fes.
Finally, we will drive to your hotel or riad where this day ends.
Fes – Merzouga – Ifrane – Azrou – Ziz Valley – Merzouga :
The second day of the trip starts from Fes and ends in the Sahara Desert via the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas Mountains.
Picked up in the morning, we depart Fes and start driving to Ifrane where we have a stop to see this different city that always referred to as Switzerland of Morocco.
Not too far from Ifrane, we stop at the Cedar forest of Azrou where the Barbary apes live.
Back on the way, we drive through the Middle Atlas green fields and mountains until we reach Midelt city.
After lunch and some rest in this city, we carry on our way through the High Atlas Mountains and stop at a mountain pass “Tizi N’Talghemt” in which you see a panoramic view of the mountains and flat lands.
Afterwards, we would get to Ziz Valley where we stop to admire the green oases filled with thousands of palm trees.
Taking an off-road will finally drop us in the desert. In Merzouga, we will drive to your hotel next to the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes where you can enjoy the sunset and stay overnight stay.
A full day in the desert:
This special day starts in the morning when a 4WD vehicle awaits in front of the hotel to take you on an adventurous day to discover every small and large about the desert.
After a scenic driving through the golden sand dunes, we will get to the edges of the dunes beside the Algerian borders, where nomad families live peacefully in their tents welcoming visitors.
We will surely have a break and stay under their beautiful tents and drink a cup of tea in the middle of the black harsh desert.
Leaving the nomads, we drive through a desert valley which will lead us to ascend a mountain offering a fantastic view.
Over the mountain, you can clearly see the obvious transition from flat black desert to the high golden sand dunes with the valley in between.
On the other side of the main way, we visit “Khamlia” village to listen to Gnaoua music villagers sing as an important part of their legacy, originally brought from the Sub-Saharan countries.
After the returning to merzouga for lunch and rest, we continue this day with an unforgettable experience when you ride camels through the dunes straight to the camps to stay this night.
In the camp, don’t miss the charming view of the sunset over the sand dunes and enjoy your stay in the middle of the desert with a dinner and the music of drums under the wonderful view of starts in the Milky Way.
Merzouga – Rissani – Todgha Valley/Gorges – Dades Valley:
Woken up early in the morning for a fascinating desert sunrise followed by a shower and breakfast, we return back to the hotel where we start today’s journey towards Dades Valley.
The first stop of the day is Rissani, a town known as the birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty ruling Morocco from 1666 up to now, in which we visit the great gate and the traditional big market famous in the whole region.
Along the way to Dades Valley, we will see various Berber villages and green fields distributed on the arid lands.
Before getting to our destination, we will stop at Tinghir city to see the green valley crossing the city and drive out the city to stop at the amazing Todgha Gorges.
In this impressive canyon, you can walk around to admire the magic of nature and capture some of the best photography shots.
Late in the afternoon, we arrive to Dades Valley in which we will stay overnight.
Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Skoura – Ouarzazate:
Leaving Dades Valley, we will make our way towards Ouarzazate.
We first of all stop at Valley of Roses in the town of Kelaat M’Gouna to collect more information about how local cooperatives work on the Damask rose to produce various products such as cosmetics.
Next, we take the road of Thousand Kasbahs to reach Skoura town in which we visit one of the most famous kasbahs in the region; Amridil Kasbah, it is a historical fortified residence printed on a 50 dirham note.
Afterwards, we continue the road to reach Ouarzazate, one of the most interesting cities in southern Morocco.
It is home for Taourirt Kasbah which is a massive building that has attracted so many films such as Gladiator which some of its items are still being exhibited in the Kasbah.
In the city as well, we pay a visit to Atlas Film Studio to wander inside and explore the buildings and the cinematic equipment used in filming.
Today’s journey ends when we drop you off at your hotel in the city.
Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas Mountains – Marrakech:
Leaving Ouarzazate in the morning, we will make enough time to explore the magical Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou.
Registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, the Kasbah or Ksar is located east of the High Atlas Mountain on a road which served for centuries as a hallway for trading caravans Sub-Saharan countries and Morocco.
The fortified castle has been transformed into a natural decoration for filming international films and series, perhaps the most famous “Game of Thrones”, as the Kasbah has well preserved its architectural originality overlooking valleys.
After lunch, we leave Ait Benhaddoy and start a picturesque drive above the High Atlas Mountains and through many nomads living there.
We stop at the highest mountain pass “Tizi N’Tishka” 2260m to have a bird’s eye view on the whole area.
In the evening, we would be in Marrakech and the tour ends when we drop you at your hotel or riad.
