7 Days tour from Marrakech to desert itinerary:

Day 1 :

Marrakech city tour :

Our 7 Days tour from Marrakech to desert Marrakech, often called the Red City, is a major tourism hub in the country, renowned for its exceptional qualities and remarkable attractions that captivate both locals and international visitors

Therefore, we will begin this seven-day trip with a guided tour of Marrakech to gain deeper insight into the city’s rich history and vibrant culture.

The Saadian dynasty represented a significant era in the kingdom’s history, during which Marrakech served as one of its principal capitals.

For this reason, we will visit the Saadian Tombs to deepen our understanding of this dynasty, followed by a tour of the El Badi Palace.

It is an old palace founded by the Saadian Sultan Ahmad al-Mansour commissioned its construction to commemorate the ‘Battle of the Three Kings.’ In another aspect of the city’s rich history, we will visit one of Marrakech’s most remarkable landmarks, the Bahia Palace, renowned for its architectural elegance and cultural significance.

Built by Ahmed ben Moussa of the Alaouite who is known as Ba Hmad, the palace is a truly a masterpiece built by the grand vizier to make it the most beautiful in its time.

We will also visit an amazing museum which is considered to be the oldest in the city and it exhibits a lot of Moroccan works such as carpets, arms and different old objects in Marrakech.

After that, to refresh and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, our tour also offers good chances to visit the garden of Majorelle to walk through the nice views of different kinds of plants and blue walls.

Also, the Menara Gardens are on the list to see what an old garden looks like. In the evening, you can’t miss the opportunity to stroll through the busy square of Jemaa el-Fna and a visit to Koutoubia mosque.

In the square, you will see plenty of people gather to shop, eat and enjoy the shows of storytellers, snake charmers, musicians and monkey trainers.

Finally, the day ends with a panoramic view over the square from a near restaurant.

Day 2 :

Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley :

In the morning, we will depart from Marrakech and begin our journey with a scenic drive through the majestic High Atlas Mountains.

At the summit of the Tizi N’Tichka mountain pass, we will enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks and the winding roads that traverse them.

After this scenic journey through the mountains, we will pause to rest at the renowned Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou.

We will have ample time to explore its buildings and surrounding environment, taking in the captivating views that have drawn filmmakers from around the world to shoot scenes in this remarkable part of Morocco.

After leaving the Kasbah, we will continue our drive directly to the city of Ouarzazate.

Our first stop in the city will be at the Atlas Film Studios, where we will learn about the local cinematography industry and explore the equipment and sets used in film production.

In the city center, we will visit the Kasbah of Taourirt to admire the Berber geometric patterns adorning the exterior walls, as well as the intricately carved cedar ceilings and colorful zellige tilework decorating the interior rooms.

Next, we will continue our journey through the lush palm groves of Skoura, before arriving in the town of Kelaat M’Gouna, famously known as the Valley of Roses for its abundant Damask roses.

Finally, we will arrive at the Dades Valley, where we will spend the night.

Day 3 :

Dades Valley – Todgha Gorges – Erfoud – Erg-Chebbi Desert:

After enjoying breakfast amid the stunning morning views of the Dades Valley, we will drive along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, passing the region’s lush green fields, before reaching the Todgha Gorges near the city of Tinghir.

At the renowned gorge, we will take a break to admire and appreciate the breathtaking natural beauty of the surroundings.

This impressive canyon, carved by the year-round flow of the Todgha River, provides fantastic opportunities for photographers to capture stunning shots.

It is also an exceptional destination for climbers, offering a variety of climbing routes equipped with natural and man-made holds.

Next, we will drive through the town of Erfoud and continue on to the Erg Chebbi sand dunes in the Merzouga desert.

After a break at the hotel, we head to the edge of the dunes to begin our camel trekking experience across the sand dunes and reach the camp located in that area.

Attending an amazing sunset from the dunes, you can rest in The camp and the hosts will serve you dinner and play music with drums to make your stay enjoyable..

At night, admire the breathtaking view of the Milky Way, which is crystal clear from the camp. Spend this night in the middle of the desert in your well-organized tent.

Day 4 :

Desert tour:

While you are in the camp, you can witness a marvelous spectacle: sunrise in the desert.

After showering and having breakfast, we will return to the hotel to prepare for the desert tour.

Aboard a 4×4 off-road vehicle, we will begin our desert tour through the dunes of Erg Chebbi and continue along dirt roads until we reach the other side of the dunes, where the Hamada begins, a rocky, flat desert near the Algerian border.

Here we will take a break with the nomads who live here.

We will shed light on their lifestyle and culture; their nomadic tents, for example, are wonderful, designed to withstand cold water, summer heat, and strong sandstorms.

After a pleasant session with the nomads, we will take a dirt road that will lead us to a mountain on the edge of the dunes.

The mountain is the best place from which we can see the difference between the flat desert of Hamada and the sand dunes of Erg-Chebbi.

Next, we move a little further ahead of Hamada to visit an abandoned French village that was once used as a military base.

Another village on the list is Khamlia, but this time it is inhabited by friendly people whose ancestors came from sub-Saharan countries and settled in various places, including this village.

We stop in the village for a cup of tea and listen to their Gnaoua music.

In the evening, we will be at the hotel with an optional short excursion to visit the nearby villages.

Day 5 :

Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Midelt – Cedar Forest – Fes:

The fourth day of the trip will begin with departure from Merzouga, and we will head towards the city of Fes.

We will leave Merzouga early in the morning to arrive in Rissani, the birthplace of the Alawite dynasty.

After visiting its traditional market, we continue our journey through the Ziz Valley and stop at a spot where we can enjoy a clear panoramic view of the valley, which is the country’s leading producer of dates.

Passing through the Al-Hassan Addakhil dam in Errachidia, the region’s water source, we will continue our journey to the city of Midelt, where we will stop for lunch.

Full of energy, we continue our journey through a landscape that changes from flat desert lands to the green fields of the Middle Atlas, until we reach the cedar forest of Azrou.

In the forest, we will stop to admire the jungle of cedars and the Barbary macaques that inhabit it; these monkeys are very playful and you will be able to observe them up close.

The city of Ifrane is the next stop, not too far from Azrou; in the city, we will visit the famous lion statue.

Next, we pass through the town of Imouzzar Kandar to reach the city of Fez, where we will spend the night.

Day 6 :

Fes city tour:

The city of Fez is considered the cultural capital of the country and is the oldest of the imperial cities.

The magnificent palaces and museums of Fes are rich in civilization, and its schools have produced some of the greatest scholars.

Fes is a land where many different civilizations have succeeded one another. Our tour of the city begins in the old medina, specifically at the main entrance, the Bab Bou Jeloud gate.

Next, you will visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, which was once an educational institution for students and is now an example of Moroccan architecture.

The Dar Batha Museum is the next stop, notable for its Moroccan and Moorish architecture. The museum was originally designed for royal receptions before being converted into a museum displaying arts and crafts.

The Madrasa Al Attarine is another splendid architectural masterpiece famous for its courtyard walls adorned with ceramic decorations and mosaics.

In addition, the tour will shed light on the tanneries of Chouara to see the leather dyeing process up close.

To conclude the tour, we will head to Borj Nord, designed by the Saadians to be one of the most important watchtowers in the ancient city of Fez, and now converted into a museum of traditional weapons and rare artifacts.

From this spot, we will have the opportunity to admire a splendid panoramic view of Fes.

The night is spent in a riad or hotel in Fez.

Day 7 :

Volubilis – Meknes – Fes:

The last part of the trip will be dedicated to visiting the Roman ruins and the imperial city of Meknes..

In the morning, we will start from Fes and head off to Volubilis through villages and fields on the way.

Once you arrive in Volubilis, you can stroll through this impressive ancient city and admire the beautiful columns and well-preserved mosaics.

This site is truly one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Morocco.

Next, we will head to the city of Meknes, not too far from Volubilis. Meknes is famous for Sultan Moulay Ismail, who made it his capital in the 17th century.

It is also known for its large Bab Mansour gate, which is bordered at the front by Lehdim Square, considered the sister square of Jemaa el-Fna in Marrakech.

The visit to Meknes also includes a tour of the Qara prison, which is still shrouded in mystery.

The prison is underground and has no doors to enter or exit, but now there is a newly built door that allows you to see inside the prison, which has been restricted so that people do not get lost in its labyrinth, the end of which no one knows.

Next to the prison, we will visit the mausoleum of the city’s founder, Moulay Ismail.

After lunch at a local restaurant, we continue our visit to Heri es-Souani, which also includes a lake. The site was built by Sultan Moulay Ismail in the 18th century due to its strategic importance, as it was created to store grain and is protected by solid fortifications with high walls and watchtowers.

In the evening, we will return to Fes, where the tour will end with your transfer to your hotel.
