4 Days tour from Fes to Sahara Desert itinerary:
Fes – Azrou Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga :
Our 4 Days tour from Fes to Sahara DesertThe first day of this trip starts in Fes and ends in Sahara Desert. The way from Fes to today’s destination is truly amazing and full of stops and wonderful views.
The first stop would be Ifrane city, one of the best and cleanest cities in the world, which is often referred to as Switzerland of Morocco. Next, we carry on driving through the green trees of the Middle Atlas and stop at the Cedar Forest of Azrou city. It is where you can see the Barbary apes on the sides of the road; in winter season snow covers the forest in a wonderful view.
At lunchtime, we would be in Midelt to rest and have lunch. This city is known for its first rank in apple production in the country, as well as having one of the most important Vanadinite mines in the world. Leaving Midelt behind, you will notice the change from green humid lands to dry desert lands.
By crossing Zaabal Tunnel, we will step in Errachidia province which is known for the golden sands and green valleys. Ziz Valley is one of the most interesting in the area in which we will stop to catch a wonderful panoramic view of the valley. Before the sun goes off, we would be in Merzouga Sahara Desert. We will drop you in your hotel next to the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. Enjoy desert sunset and stay in the hotel.
Excursion in the desert :
On the second day of Our 4 Days tour from Fes to Sahara Desert, will be devoted to explore the secrets of the desert and camel riding to the middle of the desert for a night stay. In the morning after breakfast, you will get in to the 4WD car and start driving through the sands of Erg-Chebbi. On the eastern part of the dunes and not too far the Algerian borders, there live the nomads.
We will visit them and have a seat in their beautiful traditional tents in order to know how they manage to live here seeking for water and pasture for their livestock. Next, we ascend a mountain and stop at an amazing panoramic view of the Erg-Chebbi sand dunes. It is from where you can clearly see the transition from black harsh desert to golden sand dunes separated by the valley which flows seasonally.
Beside the mountain, there is an old abandoned French village “M’Fis” which in colonization days was a military area. The area now is also known for its mines and fossils. Still on the off-road, we back to the main way when we stop at “Khamlia” in order to listen to Gnaoua music. It is a village inhabited by people originally from other countries of Africa who serve their art legacy. Back to Merzouga, you will have lunch and relax before heading to the edges of the dunes where camels are waiting to take you on a special ride through the dunes to the camps.
Enjoy a charming sunset over the sand dunes and descend to the camp where you will be served dinner followed by a special campfire session under the sparkling sky. Night is spent in your well-equipped tent.

It is a traditional huge market offering plenty of products; for this reason, all people in the area gather in it for shopping.

Away from the city with 14km, there is a valley of giant rocky walls with a stream shaping an amazing gorge known as “Todra Gorges”. Next, we depart Tinghir and make our way to Dades Valley.
